Become a Respite Carer for a child with a disability
Would you like to do your part to support a family who cares for a child with a disability?
We are looking for respite carers to give families caring for a child with a disability a much deserved break.
While helping out a family in need, you will also have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the child and their family.
Carers should be based in the Sydney Metropolitan area and have patience, a sense of humour and the ability to work as part of a team.
We are looking for two types of carers:
Host Respite Carers care for a child in their own home for one weekend per month. Host Respite Carers should be over 21 years of age and be able to commit to a twelve month period. Some awareness or understanding of disability is helpful, but ongoing training will be provided as well as financial support.
Support Respite Carers spend time with a child for 3-4 hours each fortnight doing fun activities at the child's home or out in the community. Support Respite Carers should be over 18 years of age and be able to commit for a six month period.
We welcome Tertiary and TAFE students wishing to gain experience with children with a disability. We will provide ongoing training as well as a reference letter if applicable.
